I was also in Gryffindor.
Don't diss the hat. I have sorting hat pajamas. I would not wear the pjs of a lying hat. :)

Slytherin means ambition and stuff, which can be a very positive quality when applied without arrogance or malice. People shouldn't be so down about being placed in a house other than Gryffindor. Most people just want to be in the same house as famous Harry Potter, but there are lots of positives and negatives to each of the four houses.
